Marta Popović, PhD

Principle Investigator

Marta has set up her first research group in February, 2018, after being awarded the 5 year Installation grant by the Croatian National Science Foundation (UIP-2017-05-5258) for her work on DNA-protein crosslinks.

Cecile Otten, PhD

Tenure -track Research Associate

Cecile joined the group in 2020, after 10 years of postdoctoral position at the MDC, Berlin and Potsdam University, Germany. She finished her undergraduate studies in the field of biology at EMBL, Heidelberg, followed by the PhD position at MDC, Berlin, working on "Functional analysis of the xirp genes during zebrafish embryonic muscle development". Cecile published 12 papers (5 first-author and 4 as a second author) in excellent scientific journals including EMBO Mol.Med., eLIfe and Dev.Cell.

Ivan Anticevic, PhD

Postdoc

Ivan joined the lab in May 2019 after MSc in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Zagreb. After receiving his PhD degree in 2023, he stayed in the group to continue the research on the DPC repair in vivo.

Christine Supina, MSc

PhD student

Christine joined the lab in June, 2018 after MSc in Molecular Biology at the University of Zagreb. She received her PhD degree in the DPC group in 2023.

Marin Kutnjak joined the group as a PhD student in December 2021. He acquired a Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Science, the University of Zagreb, in 2021 with a summa cum laude. In 2021 he was awarded the Rector’s Award of the University of Zagreb, the highest award for students in Croatia, for an individual research paper.
